DHAULADHAR ROUND TREK DURATION : 10 DAYS. BEST TIME : 15TH MAY TO 15TH NOVEMBER. MAXIMUM ALTITUDE : 4350Mts. DAY 1: MCLEOD GANJ TO TRIUND (Height 2975m Distance 9 Km) The trek goes through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar tress.First two Kilometer is a steep ascent but there is a gradual ascent after Galu DevTemple. The last 1 kilometer is again a steep ascent through the forest.Triund is a flat meadow on top of a ridge. From here panoramic view of DhAuladhar range on one side and Kangra valley on other is a memorable sight. Night saty at tents or private houses. DAY 2: TRIUND TO LAHESH CAVE (Height 3500m Distance 6Km) This is an acclimatization day. After a short ascent from Triund traverse a ridge to reach Laka Got a temporary shepherd camp. Laka Got is situated at the snout of small glacier, which is full of snow and ice in early summer, and the snow melts away during the monsoon. From Laka Got it is a sleep ascent for two km. Over rocky ridge to reach Lahesh Cave. Night stay in the cave.It is big cave overhang to provide shelter for 8 to 9 trekkers. DAY 3: LAHESH CAVE TO CHATTA PARAO (Height 4350m Distance 12km) Climb to Indrahaar pass 4350Mts. Early start is recommended. After climbing Indrahaar Pass lunch at Nag Dal Lake and start Trekking to stay at Chatta in small cave or there is space for camping also. DAY 4: CHATTA PARAO TO KUWARSI VILLAGE (Height 2730m Distance 14 km) The stretch up to chatta nullah is 6 km descent and crossing the strem walk over a long pasture land before into a thick forest of pines. Kuwarsi is a small trival village surrounded by thickly wooded pine trees. Night stay in the village. DAY 5: KUWARSI TO HOLI (Height 1960m Distance 10km) Kuwarsi to holi full day trek camping by river side a small township on the road head on the bank of river Ravi. DAY 6: HOLI TO NAYA GRAON (Distance 12km) Full day trek to Naya Graon. Night stay in the village. DAY 7: NAYA GRAON TO YARAGOT (Height 3600m distance 12 km) Most scenic area with lot of water around and green pastures. It is a nice camp site for Shepherds, Herbs Pickers and Trekkers as well. DAY 8: Yara to the base of pass. DAY 9: Crossing of Jalsu Pass to Parai. DAY 10: Parai to Dewal Khas a day long trek to Dewal from where a local transport is available to come down the highway.
