BRIGHU LAKE : Situated at a height of 4200
m near Manali with Vashist and Gulabo as approach points it
draws its name from Bhrigu Peak. Chandratal Lake Mulkila range
in central Lahaul is decked by Chandra Tal Lake at a Height
of 4000mt. This ethereal lake can be approached by an exciting
trek of four days from manali.
SURAJ TAL : A short distance from Keylong
in Lahaul this sacred lake at a height of 4833mt is visited
by worshippers.
NAKO LAKE : Situated at an altitude of
2950 mts in distt Kinnour amdist idyllic surroundings of Greater
Himalayas. The lake is actually situated in village Nako and
is 94 km away from Rikeon Peo.
DAL LAKE : 3 km journey by road from Mcleodganj
lands you in a quite serene spot having Dal Lake surrounded
by tall pines trees.
GOBIND SAGAR : Gobind Sagar lake and Pandoh
lake are man made marvellous reservoir, befittingly being
used for various water sports.
KHAJJIAR LAKE : An easy trek from Dalhousie
takes you into grassy hollow having a beautiful lake surrounded
by pines trees.
MANIMAHESH LAKE : It is popularly visited
not only for its scenic setting in Mani Mahesh at a height
of 3950 mt but also for its religious significance. The sacred
lake is blessed by Kali and protected by lord Shiva. It's
distance from Bharmour is 35 km.
PRASHAR LAKE : It is set like a jewel in
a grassy bowl high in the hills of Mandi. It is a big favourite
with the pilgrims.
RENUKA LAKE : About 45 km from Nahan this
legendary natural lake is believed to have been formed when
Renuka was sacrificficed by her son Parsuram in compliance
with his father’s wishes.A nnual fair in the month November
attracts devotes and Tourists.It has a rest house and a HPTDC
hotel.
REWALSAR LAKE: Situated at a distance of
about 24 kms by road from Mandi town this spot originally
as per the traditional belief was chosen as a place of retirement
and devotion by the great rishi Lomus of Skandh Purana. The
rishi who used to bathe in the water of Ganga and Yamuna rivers
joined these with his supreme power and the grace of God to
form this lake for his bathing ritual. It has assumed tremendous
importance as a place of worship by Hindus Sikhs and Bhudhist
who all have temples a gudwara and a Buddhist Monastery.
MAHARAN PARTAP SAGAR : Pong Dam reservoir
now named as Maharana Partap Sagar in Kangra district is 42
km in length and 2 km in width imprisoning the waters of river
Beas. The Regional Water Sports centre successfully organises
specialised activities such as canaoeing rowing sailing.swimming
and water Sking throughout the year. Training is also imparted
in water safety and rescue measures.
